A foreigner in small-town China is but a unicorn, arising curiosity and dispelling mystery. This unicorn seeks to share a part of that world in a chronological photo essay. My goal is to post at least one photo a day for 365 days.

{Day 48} Drenched

We decided to spend our first three nights at a hostel in the park.  There were a couple reasons for this.  First, the entrance ticket to the park is quite expensive and valid only for two days.  By staying in the park, we could have four whole days on a single-entry ticket.  Second, we could save all of our energy for hiking the more rugged trails.  We weren't bound to the trails populated with tourists and countless tour groups.
And so, in torrential rain, we hiked along the Golden Whip Stream until the fork that led us straight up the narrow stairs to Yuanjiajie.  Looking like drowned cats (and feeling as friendly three hours later), we checked in for the night.
